Load Boards:
Let’s Talk Strategy - A Beginners Guide
How to find loads, and make money by diversifying how you get your loads…
A.) Load boards (Read This – Click HERE)
B.) Broker Contacts
C.) Dispatchers
D.) Direct Shippers (My Shippers - Click HERE)
E.) R.F.P. - Request for Proposal with Potential Customers (Quoting Lanes)
Load boards are needed to get you started in the Freight-Game (YES) they are a great tool. The load boards are perfect for getting you off the starting line and you’ll use them forever, but you need to learn to become less dependent on them as time goes on.
Bear with me… Use your imagination… Think about it like a Bar Stool… If you went to the Bar and hopped up on a Stool, would you want to sit on a Stool with 4 legs supporting you, or a Stool with 1 leg? You're not going to be very comfortable sitting on a Stool with 1 leg supporting you holding you up (that’s going to be uncomfortable and stressful). Now imagine the Stool is the Drivers Seat of the Truck (a.k.a. Your Business)… Do you want to be supported with 1 leg supporting you to help you find loads? Or, do you want 4 legs underneath you ( 4 sources supporting you to help you find loads)? You need to be diversified.
Yet, for most Carriers getting into Trucking, there is a growth cycle to this… 95% of new Carriers (Owner-Operators) start with the strategy that I’ve outlined above. You start with point (A), and then work your way to (B) (C) (D), and then (E)…
If you want to dive deeper and go over an in-depth strategy for you starting your Trucking Business… Call me and let's go over what I recommend you do to build your diversified support system to find loads and make some money in this trillion-dollar industry.

Just as a side note... As you can see there are tons of load boards out there. The best of the best is DAT.Com and after that, I would say the independent load boards within Freight Brokerages. TQL, NTG, JB Hunt, Etc... All of the BIG name Freight Brokers have their own load boards for you to log into, and find loads for yourself. But, with 20+ load boards to log into all day, it can be quite overwhelming. I'd recommend you use a Dispatcher to help find your work/loads (at least for your first 6 months in business). You're taking care of your Driver and Taking Care of your Equipment which is a lot of work, but a Dispatcher can keep their eyes on all these load boards all day long to find you jobs/loads. If you want me to introduce you to some great dispatchers that I know call/email/text me and I’ll send you their info. Also, keep in mind... 80% of the best-paying loads get posted on load boards from 7:30 am -to- 10 am. That's prime time to find your loads for the day/week.
Amazon has a good load board, but Carriers need to diversify because eventually Amazon will change their Carrier criteria and the Carrier's scorecard will inevitably get knocked (downgraded) and you'll have to work with someone besides Amazon. You should sign up with them but just know... Get it while it's good, but eventually, you will have your score knocked and you'll get fewer loads with them, so don't put all your eggs in one basket. It happens to everyone.
